Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2012 Chevrolet Silverado

Today on our 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 we're going to be taking a look at it and showing you how to install the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package with a 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector. Now what's really nice about this wiring is it's going to literally plug right into our factory 7-way. That's going to not only allow us to have a 7-way plug, but also a 4-pole.Another thing I like is that the wiring is actually going to come pre-installed with some wire loom to not only help keep it protected, but to also give it a cleaner, more factory look. It's also going to have this dust cap, which is not only going to protect our terminals from any dirt or debris, but it's also going to allow us to store it around our safety chain loops just like this.To begin our install I went ahead and removed our spare tire. Now you don't have to, but it does give us a lot more room to work with. Now up here at our 7-way connector there's going to be a little gray clip. more

Today on our 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Demco 5th Wheel Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness with seven pole plug, part number DM8555002. This is what this wiring kit is going to look like once it's installed on a vehicle. What's nice about this one, is that is has 10 feet of wire which makes it easier to choose your location and put it wherever you want. Whereas some of the other 5th wheel wiring kits, they don't come with that much wire. Got seven way connector here, and it's got the spring loaded lid in order to make sure that it stays covered when not in use. That's going to help keep water and moisture out there so that it doesn't corrode your connectors. This wiring kit is going to do a great job of providing seven way power here in the bed of the truck. That way when hauling a gooseneck or 5th wheel trailer, you're not going to have to drape the wiring coming off the trailer over the tailgate down to the factory seven way, but you can just plug it in here instead. Now, let's show you how to install it. more

First thing we'll need to do is we'll need to find a good location to mount our new 7-way connector. It's going to go in the inner wall of our bed here. Wherever you choose to do yours, you want to make sure that behind it there's no wiring or anything that's already there and also that you're going to have enough room that you can make sure that you can get your connector plugged on to the back of it behind this wall. We're going to put ours right up here, so it's nice high out of the way but still nice and easy to access. You want to drill a pilot hole, then I'll take a 2 inch hole saw and make a hole using that pilot hole that I just made. Let's now install the 7-way connector. more

Im just going to leave my drill bit sitting there so I can then look from underneath and verify that there are no obstructions and then well drill it out to our two inch hole. All right thats for double checking I know were good, so now we go ahead and drill out to our two inch hole. more

Twist the knock-out counter clockwise 45 degrees and pull the knock out away from the vehicle. In doing so you can see on the back side we have got a plug in. 00:46 more
